The list of awards and accolades that have come the way of Lau's three component members; fiddler, Aiden O'Rourke; guitarist, Kris Drever; and accordionist, Martin Green paints an already formidable image of the trad-influenced folk threesome, even before we begin to talk about them as a collective.

With songs filled with time-honoured character, their experimental composition and melodies come together to shape a contemporary sound that betrays the out-moded methods and form. Made as much from the sum of the individual contributions as the synergy from the band, they fill their music and their live show with a twist on the bucolic charms associated with the folk genre. The Acoustic Music Centre will play host to numerous fantastic acts over the course of the festival. Yet few, if any, will be played with the same acumen that Lau brings to the stage. This is modern Scottish folk at its absolute best.

Lau play the Acoustic Music Centre, St Brides on 9th, 15th and 16th August.
