Do you think alike?

Pierre: Every single human thinks in different ways. We think what we want to think, and we do what we want to do. But somewhere in the middle we find a compromise together.

Have you always lived together?

Pierre: We live together but we were apart for something like six months when my brother had his accident. We live together in Berlin with  our director, Marcus.

Have you ever had a near-death experience?

Pierre: In the year 2001—in the summer—my brother fell down from an eight metre height from the Wheel of Death - two giant connected hamster wheels stacked one on top of the other. The total height of the two wheels was 16 metres, but luckily my brother didn't fall right from the top. He was in a coma for one and a half weeks, and the injuries he sustained were very serious: the right side of his body was out of control, he broke his clavicle, and his muscular coordination was damaged. But after six months of intensive rehabilitation we were able to perform on the stage again, and to show people we had returned. If you are on top all people want to be your friend, but if you fall you see very clearly who is really your friend. We were very lucky because the hospital allowed me to stay with Pablo most of the time, but occasionally I couldn't be there and we had to be apart.

What are the main differences between you?

Pierre: My brother likes painting, while I like playing guitar. My brother likes reading books, while I love the internet. Our interests are quite different.

What age did you both start to practice gymnastics?

Pierre: Our parents had this beautiful idea at the age of five to send us to the sports school at the age of five because we had too much energy, and after eight hours we realised we loved it. So it all started like this. Then at the age of 17, after many sports competitions, we had to decide what to do with our lives. Did we want to work as accountants or something, or did we want to try and make a life for ourselves in the world of showbusiness? You can see the result of our decision today.

Are you happy with the decision you made?

Pierre: I love what I do. I can say that I love it, but I can't answer for my brother. You'll have to ask him what he thinks too.

Pablo: Yes I love it too. We love what we do.

Pierre: We love it when people can take something from our show, or when they say they enjoyed it.

What do feel like when you're executing a particularly difficult move on stage?

Pierre: Sometimes we feel like we're going over our own limits, and think 'we won't be able to make it', but somehow we do. We find the spare power somewhere in our bodies and in our minds.

Do you both have girlfriends?

Pierre: I need to have an espresso before I answer this question, so maybe my brother could answer...

Pablo: We don't both have girlfriends, only one of us has. I have a girlfriend, and she lives with me in Berlin.

Do you ever argue?

Pierre: We have arguments about various subjects, but at the end of the day we always find a compromise, and we find the best way for us. For example, if my brother says 'I would like to have a black costume,' and I say 'I want to have a white costume,' straight away we decide to go for the middle, which is always the best way. So we go for gray.

How do you wind down after a show?

Pierre: We have just 15 minutes to get all our equipment off the stage, as we don't want to delay the act that comes after us. Afterwards we sit together in the Udderbelly pasture and have a chat with Marcus and some other friends involved in the show, and maybe a drink or two.

How well do the twins really know each other?

Questions about Pierre – can Pablo guess what answers his twin will give? The first is Pablo's guess, the second Pierre's answer.

1. What is his favourite flavour of ice cream?

Pablo: A lot of them. He eats all kinds of ice cream except orange flavour or lemon flavour. But cherry flavour is his favourite.

Pierre: Vanilla and cherry.

2. What other sport does Pierre like watching the most?

Pablo: Definitely Formula 1.

Pierre: I love to watch Formula 1.

3. What was Pierre's favourite subject at school?

Pablo: Definitely maths.

Pierre: Maths.

4. What is his secret vice?

Pablo: Drinking coke.

Pierre: I'm not telling you! But for me coca cola is like water, even though it is bad for my health.

5. Where would he go on holiday?

Pablo: He wouldn't ever take a holiday.

Pierre: Oh I hate holidays so I wouldn't have one.

Questions about Pablo – can Pierre guess what answer his twin will give? The first answer is Pierre's guess, and the second is Pablo's answer about himself.

1. What is his favourite film?

Pierre: I think there are two, but Braveheart is most of all his favourite.

Pablo: Braveheart.

2. What will he have for breakfast tomorrow?

Pierre: Coffee and I don't think he will eat anything.

Pablo: Just coffee.

3. Who does he envy?

Pierre: It could be a friend, or a brother. I think it's me.

Pablo: My brother.

4. If he could have one wish, what would it be?

Pierre: He would want to be at home with the family, to have a normal life, to have a garden, and to stop doing what we do so he can relax.

Pablo: To be retired, to have a normal life.

5. If Pablo could have a superpower, what would it be?

Pierre: Oh this is difficult. I know he doesn't want to fly, and I know he doesn't want to dive. So I can't think of any superpower he would want.

Pablo: I don't want to have any superpower, as I don't want to have control over other people.
